Blocking

Block down opponent kick
Time your approach to get close to the kicker, raise your hand or hurley directly in the path of the ball as the opponent kicks, and deflect the ball downward. Stay on your feet and don't overcommit.

How to do it
Put your hands out to stop the other player's kick right as it leaves their foot!
For Parents & Coaches
01
Timing
Time the block as the opponent's foot strikes the ball — too early and they'll dummy, too late and the ball is gone.
02
Stay on your feet
Don't dive or commit fully; stay balanced so you can react to the deflection.
03
Body position
Get close and square to the kicker so your hand or hurley covers the likely strike path.
